| On behalf of all members of the Rosemont Department of Public Safety, I welcome you to our site. Due to the one-of-a kind community we all serve, our department’s operation is one of the most unique in the nation.
Situated over only 2 ½ square miles and sitting right next to O’ Hare Airport, the Village of Rosemont has a mere population of 4,000 residents. Yet, within those small borders lie 29 office buildings, 14 upscale hotels, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the Allstate Arena, and the Rosemont Theater.
Taking transient populations and visiting into account the population for this quaint Village can swell to well over 50,000 on any given day. The provision of superior public safety was a task that required a high level of innovation.
The Village of Rosemont adopted a true Public Safety Department consisting of
personnel that are cross-trained and state certified as police officers, firemen, and emergency medical technicians since 1975.
Today, our officers work 24-hour shifts rotating their time between police and fire
protection activities. These officers are trained in a challenging manner every day and the level of job skill and knowledge required of each officer is extremely high.
As you will see during your site visit, our Department is multi-faceted in its approach to Public Safety. We have several programs and specialty teams in place lo provide a myriad of manpower and solutions to most any problem.
And our goal remains as simple as possible…TO SERVE–PROFESSIONALLY!
